site.bta2024 State Budget Bill Clears Committee Stage

The National Assembly Budget and Finance Committee on Tuesday morning adopted the last portions of the 2024 State Budget Bill, which can now go before the full house.

Annex 3 to the draft lists the investment projects of municipalities that will be financed by the State. The Finance Ministry has pooled all municipality projects received by Monday noon, and they have already been submitted to Parliament, said Deputy Finance Minister Georgi Klisurski.

“The list is open, it will be modified and amplified in March. No work is done in January, so there is no problem if any project is not included in the present version of the list,” said Committee Chair Jordan Tzonev MP of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms.

The Committee also approved a methodology according to which the Finance Ministry will be charging and collecting fees from gambling organizers. On Sunday the Committee approved an increase of these fees which is up to quadruple in some cases. The methodology specifies the amounts due from organizers holding active licences. The new fee will be collected as from January 1, 2024 and will not apply to past periods, Deputy Finance Minister Lyudmila Petkova explained. All new licences will require payment of the new higher fee, even if the applications for them have been submitted to the National Revenue Agency before the beginning of 2024, she added.
