Bulgaria ranks next to last in a Eurostat chart for basic digital skills.  In 2023, 36% of Bulgarians aged 16 to 74 have basic digital skills, which is considerably lower than the EU average of 56%.

Only Romania has lower than Bulgaria, at 28%.

At the top of the chart is the Netherlands (83%) followed by Finland (82%) and Denmark (70%).

The digital skills indicator is one of the key performance indicators in the context of the Digital Decade, which sets out the EU’s vision for digital transformation. The 2030 target is that 80% of EU citizens aged 16-74 years old have at least basic digital skills, says Eurostat.
