site.btaBulgaria's Defence Industry, Defence Products Trade Employed nearly 26,000 by End-2022

The National Assembly Economic Policy and Innovation Committee on Wednesday debated a report on the implementation in 2022 of the Defence-Related Products and Dual-Use Items and Technologies Export Control Act by the Interdepartmental Council on Defence Industry and Security of Supplies with the Council of Ministers, which the Cabinet submitted to Parliament on July 27, 2023.

By the end of 2022, there were 291 licensed companies holding 661 licences and trade and brokerage certificates. The companies directly involved in the defence industry and in trade in defence products directly employed 25,841 people, who were 2,299 more than in 2022, the report says.

It will be adopted at the next meeting of the Committee because it lacked a quorum on Wednesday.
