Berlin Hosts Quadrilateral Conference on Fair Labour Mobility

A quadrilateral conference entitled Fair Labour Mobility: Cross-Border Cooperation of Inspection Authorities, Trade Unions and Other Institutions and organized by Germany's Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs took place in Berlin on December 7, the Bulgarian Embassy in Germany reported on Friday. The forum within the framework of the bilateral cooperation work programmes with the social ministries of Bulgaria and Romania saw participation from Germany, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova.

The event was attended by partner Bulgarian institutions involved in the implementation of the work programme between the Bulgarian Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the German Federal Labour Ministry, such as the National Employment Agency, the General Labour Inspectorate Executive Agency, the National Social Security Institute, the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, representatives of the European Labour Authority, the German customs service, the Office for Labour and Social Affairs at the Bulgarian Embassy in Berlin.

At the opening of the conference, Anette Kramme, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, reaffirmed Germany's commitment to improving the situation of migrant workers in Germany, to fighting human trafficking and labour exploitation in all its forms.

In his address, Grigor Porozhanov, Ambassador of Bulgaria to Germany, said that ensuring decent work for all, including mobile and seasonal workers, is a top priority of the policies and measures developed by the Bulgarian Labour Ministry and is of paramount importance to the Bulgarian Embassy in Berlin. The Ambassador also wished the partner countries to deepen and develop their cooperation in the future and to contribute to raising the awareness of mobile workers on their labour and social rights.

According to the scheduled roadmap for the Bilateral Work Programme for Cooperation between the Bulgarian and German labour ministries, Bulgaria will host the next such conference in 2024.
