Customs officers confiscated 950 kg of chewing nicotine pouches at the Danube Bridge 2 border checkpoint near Vidin - Calafat, the Customs Agency reported.

On November 22, at the Danube Bridge 2 border checkpoint near Vidin - Calafat, customs inspectors stopped a Bulgarian truck traveling to Germany and Belgium. According to the presented transport documents, the transported goods were food supplements. During the physical inspection, the customs officials found a total of 1,015,920 pouches of smokeless tobacco in two pallets in the cargo compartment. The pouches were manufactured in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The entire quantity of 950 kg of excise goods has been confiscated.

Since the beginning of the year at this border checkpoint, in 34 separate cases, customs officials have confiscated 251,493 boxes, or over 4.86 million pieces, of contraband cigarettes, 400 grammes of smoking tobacco and 950 kg of nicotine chewing gum, according to information on the website of the Customs Agency.
