The Ministry of Tourism was honoured for the outstanding organization of Bulgaria's participation as "honoured country" in the 38th edition of the PHILOXENIA international tourism exhibition in Thessaloniki, the ministry said on Monday. The exhibition took place November 10-12.

Bulgaria works to develop all types of tourism and focuses its efforts on those that can be practiced all year round. These are urban, business, cultural, spa, wellness tourism and other specialized forms. This ensures a more varied stay, which is particularly important for tourists staying longer in Bulgaria, the release said.

PHILOXENIA is among the leading events with a direct tourist focus. This year, the Bulgarian information stand was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Tourism, businesses, and municipal administrations in Veliko Tarnovo, Varna, Bansko, and Sofia.
