site.btaCabinet Revises Euro Changeover Plan

The Government adopted an update of the national plan for the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria.  The update is aimed at adapting to the newly emerging circumstances and the progress in the technical preparations for the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria. 

The amendments to the plan were developed and approved by the coordination council for Bulgaria's preparations to join the euro zone, which is co-chaired by the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank.

Part of the changes are related to the adjustment of the required time periods to the new indicative date for euro area membership - January 1, 2025. 

In addition, the current version of the Plan responds to the emerging requirements for updating the guidelines and functions of the working groups of the coordination council.

The national plan for the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria serves to manage the organization of the introduction of the euro, describing the main directions and activities to be undertaken as well as the interactions between the institutions within this process.
