In September 2023, turnover in retail trade went down by 0.2% in the EU and 0.3% in the Eurozone, compared to August 2023, Eurostat reported on Wednesday, publishing seasonally adjusted data. In September 2023, turnover in Bulgaria's retail trade remained at the level of September 2022 at comparable prices.

In August 2023, turnover in retail trade decreased by 0.5% in the EU and 0.7% in the Eurozone.

The calendar-adjusted turnover went down by 2.7% in the EU and 2.9% in the Eurozone in September 2023, year-on-year.

A decrease was observed in the EU in retail trade of non-food products (1.8%), while an increase was registered in retail trade of automotive fuels (0.1%) and food, beverages and tobacco (1.3%) in September 2023, month-on-month.

In the Eurozone, there was a drop in retail trade of non-food products (1.9%) and automotive fuels (0.9%), while an increase was observed in retail trade of food, beverages and tobacco (1.4%) in September 2023, compared to August 2023.

In September 2023, total turnover in retail trade in Bulgaria grew by 0.1%, month-on-month.

A decrease was observed in the EU in retail trade of automotive fuels (6.95), non-food products (3.2%), and food, beverages and tobacco (0.9%) in September 2023, year-on-year.
