At the 3rd Powers Summit in Sofia on Tuesday, MPs of various political parties and representatives of businesses, trade unions, employer's and nongovernmental organizations discussed the topic of sustainable development. Within a separate session, three MPs summarized what they had heard and understood from the messages of the participants in the discussion panels, noting that the incumbents listens to the opinions and proposals made.

Tomislav Donchev MP of GERB-UDF called for de-ideologization of all policies related to sustainable development. Ever more complex and difficult to explain policies are made in the field of sustainable development, he underscored.

Iskren Mitev MP of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria argued that the climate issues that are related to sustainable development are "problems of the entire world and ours as its citizens".

Grozdan Karadzhov MP of There Is Such a People said that "outside of software companies, there is another Bulgaria" that is not convinced of the need of investment in green transition, related to the obtainment of energy from renewable energy sources. "The power holders should be able to look at the other Bulgaria as well," he said.

The panel on sustainable development outlines three main points: establishment of a consultative council with the Cabinet comprising representatives of interested parties and uniting the efforts of all organizations working actively on the achievement of the Global Goals; speedier work on the creation of a deposit system in Bulgaria and change in the methodology for calculating the household waste tax based on generated waste; speedier work on transposing the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive with a clear commitment to observe its minimum requirements, transitional periods and establishment of a single entry point for publishing the annual reports on the companies' activity.
