Addressing the Global Women Leaders' Forum on Thursday, Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov said the European Commission is of the opinion that if women get equal representation in entrepreneurship, high technology and engineering, this will lead to profits in the order of trillions of euros, will advance Europe's economy and make it even more competitive.

The event organized by the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria highlights the successful ideas and practices of individuals, companies and organizations in their effort to create a more sustainable, stable and equitable society.

Women account for 30% of all entrepreneurs, according to the National Statistical Institute. Women account for 41% of those employed in Bulgaria's high-tech industry, which is way above the average European level of 33%, Denkov said. He added: "There is much to be proud of, but also much more to do."

Denkov told a personal story to illustrate his thoughts about women. He said reporters had asked him recently if he trusted certain politicians 100%, and he replied that he had 100% trust only in his wife. He said his wife is a professor and is one of the top 2% scientists.

Ending his address, the Prime Minister told the women attending the event: "We believe in you, we rely on you and we know that very often you are the better half of humanity."
