In order to exercise control for protection of labour right of teleworkers, the General Labour Inspectorate envisages in its annual plan for 203 to identify employers who use teleworking. The lack of data hampers the identification, but the Inspectorate continues to make efforts to implement successfully the planned measure, the Inspectorate says in a press release in connection with the European Week for Safety and Health at Work which is on October 23-23.

The checks aim to establish the specifics of tasking employees, calculating work hours and work payment.

By now the largest number of checks have been carried out in the IT and commerce sector.

The Inspectorate has published on its website the rights and obligations of workers and employers in teleworking.

The Inspectorate will patriciate in the European Week for Safety and Health at Work by sending questionnaires to employers in economic fields where teleworking is possible.

This novel method of control allows employers to find out on their own discrepancies with the labour legislation and take steps to address them. This will improve the working conditions even in companies, where the General Labour Inspectorate has been unable to exercise control.

The European Week for Safety and Health at Work has been marked since 2000 in October during the 43th calendar week of the year at the initiative of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work.
