site.btaEurostat: In 2022, over 12.5 Mln Intra-Country Commuters in EU, 33,400 in Bulgaria

In 2022, among the 197 million employed people aged 15-64 years in the EU, more than 12.5 million people (6.4% of all employed) commuted to work from one region to another within their country of residence. This marked an increase of 4.4% compared with 2021 (12.0 million people), according to the latest Eurostat data published on Tuesday.

In 2022, Germany had the largest number of people aged 15-64 years commuting to work from one region to another within their country of residence (4.54 million), followed by France (1.56 million) and Belgium.

The figure for Bulgaria is 33,400 employed people, of whom 22,600 were residents of Northern and Southeastern Bulgaria.
