In October 2023, the average monthly retirement-age and contributory-service pension per retiree reached BGN 909.32, an increase of BGN 1.49 from the previous month and an increase of BGN 180.57 from October 2022, the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) reported here on Tuesday. The average monthly pension was BGN 827.14, an increase of BGN 1.27 month-on-month.

The total amount of the reported revenues of the Public Social Insurance (PSI) as of September 30, 2023, is BGN 8.2884 billion, which represents 73.8% of the yearly plan. Revenues received are BGN 1.0293 billion more compared to the same period of 2022. Total reported expenditure amounts to BGN 15.8524 billion or 72.7% of the budgeted amount for the year or BGN 2.9496 billion more than in 2022.

In the structure of total expenditures, the largest share is taken by pension expenditures, which amount to BGN 14.0716 billion. The expenditure on pensions was BGN 2.9881 billion or 27% more than in the same period of the previous year.
