Bulgarian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Deyan Stratiev and Ugandan Ambassador Stephen Mubiru, resident in Berlin, discussed opportunities for cooperation in fisheries and aquaculture at a meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Ministry said in a press release here on Friday.

Mubiru stressed that he is interested in Bulgaria's experience in fisheries. Stratev informed that Bulgaria has been successfully implementing projects under the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) in different programming periods for years. He announced that the measures under the 2021-2027 EMFAF are about to be implemented and many beneficiaries will benefit from them.

The two sides discussed the possibility of Ugandan experts being trained by Bulgarian fisheries specialists. The Deputy Minister stressed that Bulgaria has universities that train highly qualified personnel in this field as well as in all areas of agriculture.
