site.btaEnergy Workers, Miners Continue Protests for Thirteenth Day, Blocking Key Roads

The protest of miners and energy workers continues for the thirteenth consecutive day on Wednesday. The protesters are blocking Trakia motorway in Stara Zagora Region (at the interchange between Stara Zagora and Haskovo) and the Pass of the Republic.

They demand that Bulgaria withdraw the Territorial Just Transition Plans recently submitted to the European Commission and new negotiations on the agreement concluded between Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, cabinet members, MPs and representatives of energy sector trade unions.

Protesters are preparing for effective strike action and have been collecting the required signatures since Thursday.

The protest began on September 29 with roadblocks across Bulgaria.
