site.btaRetail Trade Turnover Unchanged in August, Both M/M and Y/Y

In August 2023, turnover in Bulgaria's retail trade, exclusive of trade in automobiles and motorcycles, remained at the level of July 2023 at comparable prices, the National Statistical Institute reported on Tuesday, publishing seasonally adjusted early data.

Turnover in retail trade in non-foods, exclusive of motor fuels and lubricants, decreased by 0.5% in August 2023 compared with July 2023. Retail trade in motor fuels and lubricants dropped by 0.2%. An increase was reported for foods, drinks and tobacco products, up by 1.8%.

In August 2023 compared with August 2022, turnover in the retail trade sector remained unchanged, calendar adjusted data show.

A year-on-year turnover increase was reported in retail trade in foods, drinks and tobacco products, up by 5.6%. Decreases were registered in non-foods, exclusive of motor fuels and lubricants, down by 2.8%, and motor fuels and lubricants, down by 1.8%.
