The unemployment rate stood at 5.2% in July, increasing by 0.2 percentage points from June 2023, show the National Employment Agency's administrative statistics published on Tuesday. There were 147,596 registered unemployed last month, up by 5,086 people from June. A total of 21,512 people registered in labour offices, which is by 1,937 more compared to June 2023 and by 1,150 less compared to July 2022.

In July, those who started work numbered 10,212, compared to 14,176 in June 2023. A total of 379 pensioners, students, and employed found work through labour offices. The highest share of people found work in manufacturing (21.2%), followed by trade (21.7%), hotels and restaurants (7.5%), state governance (6.4%), construction and agriculture (5.5%), and others. Nearly 780 unemployed started work in other EU countries with the National Employment Agency's assistance.

Last month, there were 9,026 vacant jobs on the primary market declared in labour officers, compared to 11,325 in June 2023. In the real economy, the highest number of vacant jobs were declared in manufacturing (25.1%), education (18.3%), trade (11.1%), state governance (8.6%), hotels and restaurants (7.8%), and administrative and auxiliary activities (6.1%). 

The professionals most wanted by businesses last month were: teachers; carers; workers in the mining industry, manufacturing, construction and transport; shop assistants; operators of stationary machines and installations; personal services personnel; waste collectors; drivers; workers qualified in the production of food, clothing, wooden items; metallurgists, and others.
