The advisory council on meat will meet on Monday at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the ministry said. The meeting will be attended by Minister Kiril Vatev and Deputy Minister Deyan Stratev.

This will be the fourth meeting of the council, after last week’s meetings of the councils on land relations, milk, and fruit and vegetable production, which were attended by representatives of branch organisations and scientists.

The tasks that the members of the respective councils will work on in the future are a change in the legal framework related to land relations to achieve the ultimate goal - to have Bulgarian food on our table, analyses of agri-food chains on traceability for milk, fruit and vegetables, based on current and forthcoming inspections by the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency and the NRA in the respective sectors. Minister Vatev indicated earlier that the results of the inspections would be the occasion for major legislative changes, including in the VAT and food laws.

The Agriculture Minister said that councils are yet to be held on honey, technical crops, vineyards and wine, essential oil crops, and other sensitive sectors.
