By Friday, Wizz Air will submit to the Directorate General Civil Aviation Administration an Action Plan with preventive measures against flight delays and cancellations. The information was revealed after a meeting between Anelia Marinova, Director General of Civil Aviation Administration, and Wizz Air Hungary Ltd representatives, the Transport and Communications Ministry said on Thursday.

Since the beginning of 2023, the Civil Aviation Administration has received more than 500 complaints from Wizz Air passengers, Marinova stressed during the talks. Over 200 of those complaints have not been handled by the airline. There were 38 cancelled flights at international airports in Bulgaria in July 2023 alone. During that period, another 69 were delayed by more than 2 hours, Marinova explained. In her words, the situation raises serious concerns and Civil Aviation Administration will take measures to ensure that all the air passengers rights are respected.

Regarding the pending complaints, the airline representatives committed to consider them within 3 weeks. The Wizz Air representatives indicated that they had identified an error in their information system and therefore the complaints have not been received.

The two sides agreed to start regular meetings as early as August to exchange information in a timely manner and discuss the measures proposed in the Plan to address the situation.

The meeting between Marinova and the representatives of Wizz Air was a continuation of the talks initiated last week at the Ministry of Tourism after the tourism industry raised alarm over the increasing cases of cancelled and delayed flights.
