In July 2023, the total business climate indicator saw a minimal increase of +0.1 percentage points to 26.1% compared to June, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) reported on its website on Friday. An increase of the indicator was observed in the retail trade and service sector. The indicator preserved its level from the previous month only in the construction industry.

In June, the total business climate indicator maintained the values from May, when it registered an increase of 4 percentage points on a monthly basis.

The main obstacles for the activity in the industry sector are the uncertain economic environment and shortage of labour. The construction sector also suffers from the costs of materials as well as from an increase in the number of clients with delays in payments.

Managers working in industry, construction, retail trade and the service sector predict that the selling prices in their respective sectors remain unchanged over the next three months.

In July, the composite indicator "business climate in industry" decreased by 0.6 percentage points M/M, reaching 26.3%. The composite indicator "business climate in construction" lost 0.3 percentage points reaching 23.1%. The composite indicator "business climate in retail trade" increased by 0.7 percentage points to 36.9%. The composite indicator "business climate in service sector" increased by 1.1 percentage points to 17.7%.
