site.btaEconomy Minister: Alcomet Exemplifies Need for Bulgarian Industry's Development

Minister of Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov visited a plant of Alcomet AD's, a Bulgarian leader in the production of flat-rolled and extruded aluminium products, on Tuesday. After his visit, Bogdanov told reporters that Alcomet exemplifies the need for development in Bulgaria's industry - the need for investments in modern technologies, in human resources, the need for trust in Bulgarian experts and their ability to manufacture products with added value.

During his visit, the Minister was joined by Alcomet majority owner and Chair of the Supervisory Board Fikret Ince.

Bogdanov recalled that Alcomet won the 2022 Investor of the Year award. This company, which was founded more than 40 years ago, has invested over EUR 170 million under Ince's management. Alcomet's investments in 2022 were worth BGN 27 million and opened new markets in the US. The Minister said: "For me, this is truly an example of how Bulgarian industry should develop".

The Minister said that an active campaign will be launched to develop Bulgaria's industrial sites. The issue of undeveloped industrial sites, without the necessary infrastructure or resources, had been brought up to his Ministry by numerous investors.

Bogdanov expressed hope that investors like Alcomet will be able to provide economic growth and higher standards. He concluded: "I believe the best is yet to come for Shumen".
