site.bta19th White Stork Festival to Be Held in Belozem on May 17

The south-central village of Belozem will host the 19th White Stork Festival on May 17, Elena Uzunova, Secretary of the Prosveta 1909 National Community Centre in Belozem, told BTA on Tuesday. The official opening will be at the White Stork Park at 10 a.m.

Hosting the event are Prosveta 1909, Belozem Mayoralty, Rakovski Municipality, Geo Milev Primary School, and the Green Balkans environmental organisation. The festival will be held under the auspices of the Environment and Water Ministry.

The festival's visitors will be able to enjoy dance and music performances, buy locally made products and souvenirs, learn about the California worm farm and herb garden in the local schoolyard, and read the diary of the children about the 20 stork families nesting on the school's roof. There is also an ethnographic collection and Information Centre of the White Stork.
