The Bulgarian Donors' Forum (BDF) presented its annual Corporate Donor Awards at a Tuesday ceremony at Vivacom Art Hall.

The 19th edition of the campaign honoured Raina Kabaivanska. Telus Digital Grup won the Difficult Causes award.

The event honours companies for their transparent, efficient and sustainable charitable programmes and initiatives in support of causes that are significant for society.

This year, the focus of the awards is on the so-called "difficult causes". Such causes are not very popular and do not seem to carry enough prestige, but they are particularly valuable, said BDF Executive Director Teodora Bakardzhieva during the ceremony.

Difficult causes may ones that support for people with mental disorders, people with addictions, former prisoners, victims of domestic violence and many others, and companies and foundations that see meaning and lend a hand to these causes deserve special respect, said Bakardzhieva.

The award in the Best Volunteer Programme category received by Accenture Bulgaria.

The Fantastico Group won Most Generous Donor. The company donated BGN 726,000, or 1.26% of their profit before tax.

A1 Bulgaria received the Diversity in Approaches to Donor Support.

SAP Labs Bulgaria received the Volunteer Work award.

Danone Serdica received recognition for the largest non-financial donations for donations of food products worth BGN 505,381.13 to the Bulgarian Food Bank Foundation and through it to people in need.

Telus Digital Grup  also won the Best Donation programme award.

The Most Successful Partnership award was received by two partnerships: Generali Insurance and the For Our Children Foundation; and Balkanka and Lidl Bulgaria
A special prize recognizing a personal significant contribution to the development of donation in Bulgaria was presented to world-renowned opera prima Raina Kabaivanska, who is also a philanthropist and public figure with a long and personal donation history, the BDF said. In 1989, she created a foundation to support talented children from social institutions.

The mission of the Bulgarian Donors Forum is not only to unite major donors in Bulgaria and assist them in their donation initiatives, but also to develop philanthropy by contributing to building a donation culture in society, commented Teodora Bakardzhieva.
