Grammy winning violinist Augustin Hadelich will open the new season of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra.  Hadelich and cellist Gautier Capucon will perform Concerto for Violin, Violoncello and Orchestra by Johannes Brahms at Bulgaria Hall on September 19. The conductor is Nayden Todorov, the Philharmonic said. 
A ritual dance from "Salammbo" by Veselin Stoyanov and the Unfinished Symphony by Franz Schubert complete the program of the evening.  
 
Augustin Hadelich is known for his phenomenal technique, insightful and persuasive interpretations, and captivating tone. He has played with all major American orchestras, as well as with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Concertgebouw, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo. 
 
Hadelich received a Grammy in 2016 in the category "Best Classical Instrumental Solo" for his 2014 recording of Henri Dutilleux’s “L’arbre des Songes” Violin Concerto - with conductor Ludovic Morlot and the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.  

Augustin Hadelich, a dual citizen of the United States and Germany, was born in Italy to a German family, and studied with Joel Smirnoff at New York's Juilliard School. In 2006, he marked a major breakthrough in his career by winning the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. 

In June 2021, Augustin Hadelich was appointed professor at the Yale School of Music. He plays a violin by Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù from 1744, known as Leduc, ex Szeryng, loaned by the Tarisio Trust.
