“It is by far not accidental that, for four decades now, every year Sozopol has succeeded in bringing together the best of Bulgarian culture and art,” Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said at the opening of the Apollonia Festival of Arts here on Thursday evening.

“Because it is here, by the seashore, where the splendour of nature, the freedom of the spirit, the incredible heritage of thousands of years of civilization meet, where every year, with much love and ambition, new inspiring pages are added to the cultural chronicles of Bulgaria,” the Head of State added.

“That is why today we could hardly imagine Sozopol without Apollonia and Apollonia without the Sozopol stages and auditoriums and, of course, without this wonderful, diverse and warm-hearted audience,” Radev said. In his words, “if we look at this diversity, this colourful world of music, literature, cinema, theatre, visual arts - all this makes Apollonia one of the most significant and diverse cultural holidays in Bulgaria.”
