The new issue of Bulgarian News Agency's (BTA) LIK magazine dedicated to the seaside resort of Albena was presented  at the Amelia Hotel in the holiday village on Saturday.

The issue is dedicated to the resort as one of the brightest examples of architecture as an art form and of the holiday culture in Bulgaria, said BTA Director General Kiril Valchev. He added that the presentation was on the rooftop of one of the resort's new hotels, Amelia, overlooking the five-kilometre beach, and that this hotel is an example of the continuing development of the holiday village.

In a thematic chronology, the July issue follows news about the resort as presented in the archive bulletins and BTA newsfeeds. Publications about it date back to the mid-1960s, when the idea of such a tourist spot first began to be discussed. The construction of the complex, its opening on August 24, 1969, and its development over the years are topics that have been covered by BTA journalists and highlights of them appear on the magazine's pages, Valchev added.

LIK magazine editor-in-chief Georgi Lozanov described the seaside resort as an example of a place for recreation and entertainment that managed to build its reputation before 1989 [end of communist regime in Bulgaria] and to maintain it afterwards. He attributed the longevity of Albena's good reputation to the architecture that has managed to preserve and develop its qualities in the free world, despite being made in a world of control.

"At Albena we strive to offer the best to our guests," said Albena AD Operation, Marketing and Sales Director Margita Todorova. She underlined that the resort has been welcoming guests for 55 years as the day also marked its anniversary. "I dare say that over these years we have established ourselves with the opportunities we offer, with our wonderful product and all our current and future guests appreciate it," Todorova added.
