Artists from Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia, Spain and the UK will create two large-scale murals in Sofia. The project aims to highlight climate change and electronic waste and their grave socioeconomic impact, the organizers from Visionary Foundation said.

Austria's Video.Sckre start work on the first mural on August 14. It will depict a motherboard to raise the issue of electronics overproduction. Obsolete devices are becoming one of the most dangerous pollutants due to their multi-component structure, which often contains hard-to-degrade and highly toxic heavy metals. The mural in Sofia is part of the outreach activities of the Progeny project, funded by the European Commission.

Work on the second mural, Seasons, will take place between August 16 and 25. Using colours typical of the four seasons, the artists will depict the dialogue on environmental protection on an area of over 400 square metre. The focus is on the impact of human activity and the resulting climate change and loss of the four seasons characteristic of Bulgaria and other temperate countries over the last 15 years.
