In an interview for Turkiye's Anadolu Agency, Bulgarian Youth and Sports Minister Ivan Peshev said that the two countries have always had good cooperation in the field of sports. He was interviewed in relation to the 51st Balkan Athlete of the Year poll, organized by the Bulgarian News Agency. The award ceremony was held at the BTA National Press Club in Sofia on Friday.

Emphasizing that many sports clubs in Bulgaria train in Turkiye, Peshev said: "Our bilateral cooperation is very important. I hope that this mutual cooperation will continue and develop further in different channels and organizations in the future."

Anadolu Agency also quoted BTA Director General Kiril Valchev: "When we look at the number of medals won by the countries at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Balkans won the most medals after the US and China. This result shows that we are stronger in unity and solidarity."

Attending the award ceremony on Friday, Anadolu's Sports News Director Cuma Kaan Elbir said that Anadolu Agency representatives have been attending the Balkan Athlete of the Year award ceremonies with interest for many years at the invitation of BTA. "Congratulations to all the athletes who received awards today [Friday] at the ceremony held at our neighbor and partner BTA," he added, as quoted by Anadolu.
