Newly elected Europe of the Sovereign Nations Chair Stanislav Stoyanov wants the party to be useful to the European citizens who support it and to expand its presence, he said in an interview with BTA on Friday. Vazrazhdane MEP Stoyanov was the only candidate for the position and was elected unanimously by all delegations of the parties that are part of the parliamentary group of Europe of Sovereign Nations.
There is a lot of administrative and party work ahead, but also ideological and social work in a much broader sense, he said.
"Today was our General Assembly where the governing bodies of the party were elected for the first time, literally a few hours ago," Stoyanov added. "We will need some time for these bodies to work so that we can already see concrete results of our work," he said.
"Our desire is to be active, to grow, to defend the values that have brought us together, because what unites the parties in this family are similar values. We will work very actively, we want our voice to be heard and citizens to be informed," the party's Chair stated.
Stoyanov said he accepts his election to this post as a responsibility, not as an occasion for praise. For Bulgaria this is an extremely positive sign and a reason for pride, the MEP argued.
"Until the end of my mandate I set as a goal and I will work to find partners in every European country," Stoyanov said and specified that his term in office will be two and a half years. He pointed out that Europe of the Sovereign Nations currently has partners in 12 countries.
Stoyanov commented that he would like to see a reasonable Europe that puts the interest of European countries and European citizens first.
"I do not want to see a Europe that implements harmful policies to the detriment of the European interest, to the detriment of the European peoples, that fails to find solutions to military conflicts on our territory for more than two and a half years. This is unacceptable," he said. "We want a Europe that is prosperous, that respects its traditions, that preserves its identity, that preserves European civilization, because at the moment, with this destructive policy that we are witnessing, European civilization itself is under threat," added the Chair of the new European party. Europe should start to be accepted as a significant factor on the world stage, Stoyanov added.
