Overnight, the Russian military attacked the Izmail district with drones, Odesa Regional Military Administration Chairman Oleh Kiper reported on Telegram Friday.

According to his information, Ukrainian air defense forces were mobilized and worked for over three hours to repel the attack. The target of the Russians was the port infrastructure, fortunately there were no dead or wounded, Kiper added.

As a result of the attack, damage was caused to the facades of administrative buildings and one residential building.

Bulgarians in the Odesa region number more than 150,000 and are the third largest population in Ukraine according to the official 2001 census. About 50-60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is in the regions of Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.
