site.btaCulture Minister Krastyu Krastev Presents Distinction to Angela Rodel

Bulgarian Culture Minister Krastyu Krastev on Thursday presented a distinction for Contribution to the Advancement of Culture to American translator, educator, actress and musician Angela Rodel, Krastev's Ministry said in a press release.

Rodel was honoured for her contribution to the popularization of Bulgarian culture and in connection with the International Booker Prize 2023 that her translation of Georgi Gospodinov's novel Time Shelter won earlier this year.

"Bulgarian culture has done so much for me," the translator said, accepting the distinction.

The presentation took place during a working meeting with Rodel in her capacity as Executive Director of the Bulgarian-American Commission for Educational Exchange (popularly known as the Bulgarian Fulbright Commission), together with Ivan Vassilev, who chairs the Bi-National Commission for the Preservation of Bulgaria's Cultural Heritage with the Fulbright Commission.

The two familiarized the leadership of the Ministry with the activity of their organization. The opportunities for cooperation and joint work on problems concerning movable cultural heritage were confirmed.

It transpired at the meeting that special training events will be organized at which foreign experts will share their experience in this sphere. The focus will be mainly on the conservation of World Cultural Heritages sites in Bulgaria. Heritage.
