Culture Minister Krastyu Krastev received at the Ministry of Culture Maria Bakalova, who earned an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress in 2021, the ministry said on Friday.

The two discussed the development of the Bulgarian film industry and the promotion of Bulgarian films abroad. Bakalova stressed that she would never forget the chance that Plovdiv Theatre, in the person of its then director Krastyu Krastev, gave her to do the type of theatre that was interesting to her. She also shared her desire and plans to get involved in new projects in Bulgarian theatre, as long as she is invited to do so. Regarding Bulgarian cinema, she expressed to Minister Krastev her willingness to work as its ambassador around the world.
