More than 42% of Bulgarians accept the development of artificial intelligence with concern, according to Myara agency's quick poll on the topic published on Friday. “I am not familiar with this issue” was the answer of 37% of respondents, 2.1% did not answer and 18.7% were enthusiastic about the development of artificial intelligence.

The data are from an independent telephone survey of the Myara agency, conducted between March 14 and 18, 2025 among 801 adult Bulgarian citizens.

The data are not surprising against the background of the age structure of Bulgaria's society, which is characterized by an increasing weight of the upper age groups, sociologists say.

At the same time, among 30 to 44-year-olds, for example, the proportion of enthusiastic adopters rises to nearly a third. Such age groups are also most represented by those claiming to have actually used AI - 31.4% of respondents. More than 68% said they had not used AI.

For 54.2% of respondents, artificial intelligence may result in job losses, 21.1% find it more of an opportunity for relief, 20.1% admit to not being familiar enough with the issue, and nearly 5% could not determine.
