In Monday's national test of the national early warning system, BG-ALERT, 98% of the mobile network cells transmitted a correct test message and 2% sent no feedback, said Chief Commissioner Alexander Dzhartov, Director of the Fire Safety and Population Protection Directorate General. At a news briefing here on Tuesday, he described this result as high.
It is up to the telecommunication operators to say why there was no feedback from 2% of the cells. The Interior Ministry cannot oblige the operators to build cells in the corresponding settlements, Dzhartov noted.
He specified that the test message was received in all areas of the country. "In order for the test message to be received, it is necessary to activate the test channel on the phone," Dzhartov explained.
The next test of the system will be on October 1.
Eighty-five municipalities and six regional administrations have employees trained to work with the BG-ALERT system, said the Chief Commissioner. He added that another 20 people are to be trained next, adding up to 129 so far. He noted that local authorities are under no obligation to train their representative and use the system.
Тhe test results of the siren early warning system, which was also tested оn Tuesday, have not yet been summarized.
