Eight projects, worth BGN 1.02 billion, will be removed from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, while another 22, worth BGN 2 billion, are at risk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation and Growth Tomislav Donchev told a news briefing at the Council of Ministers on Monday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation and Growth Tomislav Donchev and Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova announced to journalists at the Council of Ministers the projects proposed for removal from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
After talks with the EC and establishing that some of the projects are impossible to implement, it was decided to review all projects, Donchev said.
Some of the projects that will be removed can be financed from other sources, Donchev added. For example, the construction of water supply networks in settlements between 5,000 and 10,000 inhabitants, worth BGN 300 million, will be financed under the Operational Programme Environment. Similarly, a project for an aerospace observation centre, worth BGN 110 million, will be financed with BGN 40 million under the OP Innovation and Digitalization. Options will also be sought for financing of the remaining projects because they are important, he added.
In his words, a few weeks' time is given to work on the 22 projects at risk. Mobilization and quick work are needed to get them completed by August 2026. Progress will be monitored on a daily basis, Donchev noted.
“In talks with the European Commission we are very close to specific texts in the bills that Bulgaria has to adopt for the second payment under the NREAP. Final clarifications on the texts of the personal bankruptcy bill are expected and all the bills can be submitted to Parliament,” Donchev said. Payments under the National Recover and Resilience Plan are nine in total, he said.
