A total of 57% of participants in a survey by the Trend agency approved of introducing a religion subject as part of the regular curriculum in schools. Slightly more than a quarter, 26%, were against. Approval was lower than average among the youngest and higher among people over 70.
The data was collected as part of a nationally representative survey by Trend commissioned by 24 Chasa, dedicated to attitudes towards studying religion in school. The survey was conducted between March 10 and 16, 2025. through a direct semi-standardized face-to-face interview among 1,020 people aged over 18.
The idea of the subject being tailored to the students' faith (for example, Orthodox Christians studying Orthodoxy, Catholics studying Catholicism, and Muslims studying Islam) is perceived more nuancedly - 44% supported it to some extent, while 38% were against it, Trend agency commented.
Six out of 10 people are of the opinion that religious education can contribute to the development of moral values in students. This is stated more often than average by women and respondents over 60. Nearly a quarter, 23%, were of the opposite position, and this is most pronounced among people under 30, Trend added.
