AES Galabovo Thermal Power Plant was awarded the International Safety Award from the British Safety Council for its commitment to the health, safety and well-being of its employees in 2024, said the plant's press centre on Wednesday.

AES Bulgaria Managing Director Ivan Tzankov said: "We highly appreciate another safety award, because it is an important recognition of our systematic efforts to ensure an accident-free working environment, and it motivates us to continue to put safety first." The plant reported record electricity production in the first months of 2025.

AES Galabovo also received recognition at the annual national awards for occupational health and safety for the fourth year in a row. The awards are presented by the Foundation Center for Safety and Health at Work with the support of the General Labour Inspectorate.
