National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova no longer has the support of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB), Assen Vassilev from the parliamentary group of CC-DB told journalists on the sidelines of Parliament in response to a question whether the coalition would join calls for the resignation of the National Assembly Chair.
"Ms Kiselova was supported by us because she signed the sanitary cordon [around MRF leader Delyan Peevski]," Vassilev pointed out. "With her actions on the election of a constitutional judge last week, she violated the sanitary cordon, and we withdrew our support from her," he added.
"We are glad that Parliament has just taken a decision that restored the parliamentary group of MECh," Vassilev added. He said Kiselova's action to suspend the group days ago had not helped Parliament's credibility. And if she had not gone back to reinstate the MECh group, we would certainly have joined the calls for her resignation,” the MP said.
“We stated that after the release of the eurozone report, if all the laws on the second payment of the Recovery and Resilience Plan are not adopted, we will initiate a vote of no confidence on the grounds that Bulgaria will lose BGN 10 billion because of the inaction of this government… On Sunday, we announced that the government should now pass all the laws under the Plan so that Bulgaria does not lose BGN 10 billion… We are glad to see that the first of these laws will be considered this week, namely the personal insolvency law,” Vassilev added.
“For Bulgaria to have a clear position, we need to know the facts,” the CC-DB MP said on the issue of the Bulgarian killed in Gaza. “There is a UN statement that the Bulgarian citizen was killed by the Israeli army, there is an Israeli statement that they were not in the territory where this happened at all. Until we know the facts, we cannot take a reasonable position. It is the job of the Foreign Ministry and the services to clarify the facts, to present them to Parliament so that each political party can take a position,” Vassilev said.
