Laotian Ambassador accredited to Bulgaria Mayboua Xayavong who is based in Berlin handed over copies of his credentials to Deputy Foreign Minister Maria Anguelieva, Foreign Ministry's press centre said on Monday.

During the talks, the two sides expressed satisfaction with the traditionally good relations and mutually beneficial cooperation, which have a history of over half a century, and expressed their desire to restore the political dialogue, which has not been active in recent years. The Lao side expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by Bulgaria during the post-war reconstruction of the country. Readiness was expressed to cooperate in areas such as economy, trade, tourism and education.

The importance of the cooperation between Bulgaria and Laos in the multilateral formats of the UN, including in terms of mutual support for candidacies, was also underlined.
