Artist Margarit "Margo" Tsanev’s exhibition Flight will be open to the public at the gallery of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute (BCI) in Paris until May 23, 2025, the BCI said on Facebook. Unveiled on March 6, the exhibition features 40 rarely-exhibited works by Tsanev, including watercolour landscapes from his high school years in Sofia, Melnik, Koprivshtitsa, and Teteven, as well as a collection of drawings from his student years, owned by the artist’s family.

The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual catalogue (Bulgarian and French), both marking the artist's 80th birth anniversary.

Streletz ART Gallery in the artist’s hometown, Teteven, the Ilia Petrov National School of Fine Arts, and Debut Gallery in Sofia are among the partners of the event. The exposition was also presented at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin.

Margarit "Margo" Tsanev was born in Teteven on October 30, 1944. He graduated from the Art High School in Sofia in 1964 and was admitted to study Sculpture at the Academy of Arts in 1965. In 1968, the Academy’s dean temporarily suspended his student rights for one year, prompting Tsanev to leave Sofia. Tsanev passed away in January 1969.
