Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry has advised Bulgarian nationals to exercise caution when travelling to Italy due to a nationwide transport strike on Sunday.
Organized by the FLAI Trasporti e Servizi trade union, the 24-hour strike of ground-handling employees will affect all Italian airports. Hourly strike action is also planned by employees of Techno Sky, a company responsible for managing and maintaining Italy’s technological air traffic control systems. SEA Prime employees at Milan Linate Airport will also take part in a regional 24-hour strike on March 18, 2025.
The Foreign Ministry urges Bulgarians to consider alternative routes and transport options and stay updated on flight and train schedules.
The USB trade union plans a nationwide strike of passenger and freight rail transport workers. The strike action is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on March 18 and end at 8:59 p.m. on March 19, 2025.
The strike is expected to cause major disruptions to travel across the country.
Bulgarian nationals in Italy who need assistance can contact the Bulgarian Embassy in Rome.
