North Macedonia’s Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova Sunday visited hospitals in Skopje where some of the injured in the Kocani nightclub fire are being treated. She said that “it is a terrible tragedy and must never happen again”.
"I am at a loss for words. This is horrible. I know these are brave young people. I believe the doctors here will save most of them. I cannot understand how this could happen,” Siljanovska-Davkova said.
The President also expressed her deep sympathy with the young people’s parents.
A total of 59 people died and 155 were injured in the fire that broke out at the Pulse night club in the early hours of Sunday during a concert by the popular band DNK.
Earlier in the day, Bulgaria assured North Macedonia that it was ready to provide assistance.
Siljanovska-Davkova said that Serbia had also offered support in treating the injured.
