Sports Minister Ivan Peshev said on Monday that Bulgaria seeks to follow Hungary’s example and benefit from its experience in sports infrastructure development. He made the statement during a meeting with Hungary’s Ambassador to Bulgaria, Miklos Boros.
Peshev noted that since late 2022, Bulgaria and Hungary have been negotiating a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of sports. "The draft has been internally coordinated, and some of the amendments suggested by your country have been accepted," he said, adding that Bulgaria seeks to deepen bilateral relations in youth policy and explore opportunities for youth exchanges, joint programmes, projects, and initiatives.
"One of the most significant achievements of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of Europe was the full accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen Area, and we are grateful for Hungary’s support," Peshev emphasized.
Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Petar Mladenov and Director of the Directorate for European Programmes, Projects, and International Cooperation Teodorina Todorova-Petkanin also attended the meeting.
