Sofia Welcomes 2025 with Concert and Light Show on New Year’s Eve

Sofia welcomed 2025 with a musical night under the stars and a light show on New Year's Eve. The venue is the Prince Alexander I Square in central Sofia.

The event kicked off at 9:30 pm on December 31, with a performance by 14-year-old musical sensation Filip Donkov, whose captivating renditions have made him a social media favorite, the City Hall said. The stage then hosted some of Bulgaria’s most beloved musical acts, including the bands Factor, The Foundation, and Kerana and the Cosmonauts, as well as solo artists like Stanley and Maria Chakardakova. This star-studded lineup created an unforgettable atmosphere for revellers seeing off 2024 under Sofia’s night sky.

At the stroke of midnight, the city sparkled with a light show, illuminating the skies in celebration of the New Year. The light display has been chosen as an eco-friendly alternative to traditional fireworks, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

The area is to reopen to traffic around 2:30 am on January 1, 2025.
