site.btaBorder Traffic Update
Traffic is normal at all border control check points, the General Directorate Border Police reported on their website early Friday.
Traffic will be controlled by traffic lights to let vehicles through in stages at the Giurgiu-Ruse bridge over the Danube between December 20, 2024, and January 7, 2025. Alternative routes can go through the checkpoints at Silistra, Kardam, Durankulak, Kaynardzha or Krushari. Kaynardzha and Krushari are open daily between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., and lorries are not allowed through them.
The Bulgarian-flagged ferry Bdin which connects Bulgaria's Nikopol border crossing with Romania's Turnu Magurele is operational as of December 29, 2024, with passenger and vehicle handling proceeding as usual.
The Romanian-flagged ferry Europa, on the same route, is currently not operational because of a mechanical failure.
At the border with Greece, only cars and vans are allowed to pass through the Makaza, Zlatograd, and Ivaylovgrad border crossing points.
At the Bulgarian-Turkish border, traffic through the Malko Tarnovo border crossing is temporarily limited to one lane due to reconstruction work.
