site.btaExhibition of Icons to Go on Display in Ruse
An exhibition of icons will be put on display at the Ruse Art Gallery on January 8, art gallery director Eslitza Popova told BTA.
The exhibition features 38 icons created between the 17th and 19th centuries. Three of the icons are from the gallery’s collection, while the remaining 35 have been provided by the Ruse Diocese. They are part of the old iconostasis of the St. George Church in Ruse, built between 1841 and 1842. The icons were created by renowned representatives of Bulgaria's oldest art school, the Tryavna School.
Popova explained that the exhibition is the result of fruitful collaboration between the council of the St. George church, the Ruse Diocese, and the gallery’s team.
The opening of the exhibition will feature a performance by the choir of the Ruse Opera, conducted by Stelyana Dimitrova-Hernani, with Plamen Beykov as soloist.
