MPs Fail to Elect Parliament Chair on Second Attempt, Parliamentary Sitting to Resume on Friday

MPs on Wednesday failed again to elect a chair of the 51st National Assembly. Raya Nazarayan and Andrey Tsekov, who received the most votes. went to the round-off.

In the second round of voting Nazarayan (GERB-UDF) was backed by 69 MPs, 128 voted against and 40 abstained.

Andrey Tsekov (Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria) was backed by 66 MPs, 141 were against and 31 abstained.

After the unsuccessful election, Silvi Kirilov suspended the sitting and said that it would resume at 11 am on Friday.
