On the second day of the first session of the newly elected 51st Parliament, the MPs will make a new attempt to elect the chair of the legislative body.

On Monday, at the opening of the National Assembly, the MPs failed to elect a chair.

There were a total of five initial nominations for the post:  Raya Nazaryan from GERB-UDF, Andrey Tsekov from Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB), Petar Petrov from Vazrazhdane, Natalia Kiselova from BSP-United Left and Nicoleta Kuzmanova from There Is Such a People (TISP).

After none of the two candidates that went to the runoff, Raya Nazaryan (GERB-UDF) and Andrey Tsekov (CC-DB), received the required number of votes, the presiding Silvi Kirilov from TISP interrupted the meeting according to the accepted rules of procedure and announced its continuation on Wednesday at 11 am.

Raya Nazaryan was elected as the Chair of the 50th National Assembly on the second day of its first session.

If the MPs manage to elect a chair on Wednesday, they should also vote for vice-chairs.
