Bulgarian President Rumen Radev on Wednesday conferred with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku, on the sidelines of the UN COP29 Summit.
In the presence of the two state leaders, a memorandum on gasification between the Azerbaijani oil and gas company SOCAR and Bulgaria's Assarel Medet was signed by Rovshan Najaf, President of SOCAR, and Dimitar Tsotsorkov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Assarel Medet.
At a briefing after the meeting, President Radev described as extremely fruitful his meeting with the Head of State of Azerbaijan, as well as with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis earlier in the day.
"Bulgaria not only preserves its role as an unavoidable factor in terms of its geography and strategic position, but also consolidates its role as an initiator of a number of important projects that lead to strengthening cooperation, expanding the scope of opportunities not only for Bulgaria, but also for all our partners and allies," Radev said.
With President Aliyev a possibility was discussed for Bulgaria to actively participate in the transmission of green energy produced from renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan, which has both great ambitions and opportunities in this respect. The parameters of the project are yet to be specified, but at a high political level there is the necessary will, Radev noted.
