The Supreme Court judges failed to elect their representative to the Constitutional Court in the first round. On Friday, the General Assembly of the Supreme Court of Cassation and the Supreme Administrative Court voted for a judge to represent them in the Constitutional Court.

In the first round, the election committee found 178 valid and two invalid ballots - one blank, the other marked for all three candidates.

After counting, 79 votes were found for Galina Toneva, 59 for Svetlana Kalinova and 40 for Evgeniy Staykov.

According to the rules, in order to have a first round election, one of the candidates must have received more than half of the votes. Since neither of them received such support, Toneva and Kalinova are going to have a run-off.
